This tool is restricted to members only, and training is required to use this tool. Read and watch any videos on the google document on the google drive training area, then post to Slack #Area-Woodworks Channel to request the in-person portion of training.
The in-person training will cover the basics of table saw usage, including the following:
Ripping a piece of wood with safety devices in place
Removing blade guard, riving knife, and anti-kickback pawl.
Cross-cutting a piece of wood with the cross-cut sled or mitre gauge
Swapping the blade guard with splitter and the riving knife
How to change a blade
Understand what kickback is, and take precautions to avoid it
These should be considered only the absolute basics - a table saw is a very versatile tool; we couldn't possibly cover all that you can do.
The table saw makes a lot of sawdust which can quickly become a slipping hazard. Be sure to stop and sweep/vacuum the floor around as necessary during and after use.
You must use one of either the blade guard with attached splitter, or riving knife with each cut.
Do not rip pieces shorter than about 12” long
If your rip will produce narrow cutoffs, use a zero-clearance throat plate both for your safety and to prevent it from travelling down into the saw and clogging our dust collection. If any pieces do fall through, unplug the saw and retrieve them
When finished, the combination blade and splitter guard replaced.
