Multi-Color Printing using the Bambu Lab AMS
Note: Under Construction!
The Bambu Lab Automated Material System allows for printing with to 4 different colours at once.
Using the AMS
Loading and Unloading Filament
Unloading Filament
- Unlock the AMS by turning the 2 arms at either side of the lid towards the center and raising the lid.
- Check if the filament is currently loaded in the printer. If it is, the light for the slot will be blinking slowly - if not, skip to step 4
- Confirm that the printer is not paused or errored. If all is clear, manually unload the filament by using the directional buttons and selecting the Nozzle icon (1), then the "Feeding" option (2), and finally selecting "Unload" (3) from the final menu.
- The printer will start heating up, and once it reaches temperature, will unload the filament from the extruder.
- Gently pull on the filament to remove it from the AMS. Once fully removed from the AMS feeder, wind and secure the filament using either the filament holder (on lab spools) or route the filament through one of the pairs of holes in the spool. This is to help prevent the filament releasing and getting tangled.
- Important! Place removed filament in a zip lock bag with a dessicant packet (if available) and put it aside.
- When removing lab filament, place the removed spool(s) on the filament rack or load it into another printer.
- Close and lock the lid.
Loading Filament
- Unlock the AMS by turning the 2 arms at either side of the lid towards the center and raising the lid.
- If necessary, unload an existing spool of filament by following the instructions above.
- Place the new spool of filament in a free slot so that the end of the filament is facing down.
- Push the beige button on the AMS filament feeder towards the back of the machine while feeding the end of the filament into the hole.
- Once the AMS filament feeder indicator light has turned solid and the feeder has begun pulling the filament.
- If a print is currently running while loading a spool, the feeder will not automatically pull the filament but the light for the slot should turn solid once loaded.
- Close and lock the lid
