You can generally assume that materials left in an area are free to use unless labeled and dated.

You can generally assume that materials left in an area are free to use unless labeled and dated. That also means it's critical to put your name (and date) on everything you bring into the lab, as materials without clear labelling may appear to be free to use. Do not store your materials anywhere outside of designated areas.

The flip side is that other members might assume the stuff you left in a room is free to use.
